GreenPower to the People

Community Climate Chest or C3 gives households access to cheaper, tax-deductible GreenPower and carbon offsets on-line, while directing a share of the proceeds to local environmental groups.

Until now, electricity retailers have dominated the GreenPower market and set premium prices to maintain healthy profit margins, without providing clear information about the source of their renewable energy.

In contrast, the not-for-profit C3 scheme offers the community GreenPower from a range of clearly identified renewable energy generators at easily compared, low prices.

C3 only buys 100% government-accredited GreenPower, plus carbon offsets accredited under the rigorous international Voluntary Carbon Standard. The C3 scheme charges only a minimal administrative fee.

Furthermore, payments to C3 are tax deductible.

From humble beginnings in rural Victoria, C3 is now creating a national coalition of charitable environmental and community groups called C3 Hosts, who can market GreenPower and carbon offsets to their members.

C3 Hosts keep 5% of every sale they make, while their customers claim a tax deduction for their donation to the climate cause – a win-win arrangement.

C3 customers can choose between three on-line options:

    • 1. Preset packages based on average Australian consumption
    • 2. A lifestyle calculator for determining the required Greenpower and/or carbon offsets
    • 3. Direct selection if the desired quantity of Green Power and/or carbon offsets is already known


Customers pay on-line with a credit card.
